first things

Art is the creation of humans.  And we have humanity to serve.  This is our joyful job.  It is easy to sit back and be a critic.  And it is hard to do the work of creating new work as the great artists from the past did.  But again, this is joyful work we have been given to do.  The Fredericksburg Chorale honors the new and the old work which gives hope to the hopeful universe.  

Though it is tempting in these barbaric days, I am not interested in cynicism.   I (and I hope the rest of the Chorale) am interested in hope and the joy of making music.  While the expression can be a celebration of happiness or sadness, it is still cathartic and can only be a balm for our culture and to our community.  

Let everyone sing and sing loud to Life.
